The operation of the concession is fundamental to the Government and Community of Tristan da Cunha. The Island Community currently relies on the concession to provide a major part of government revenue, on-island employment, passenger and cargo access, and power generation.
In order to fulfil the obligations of the Concession Agreement, Fortuna purchased the Northern Ranger, an ice strengthened passenger and cargo vessel which is currently being refitted in Canada. With a passenger capacity of up to 80 berths per sailing, and dedicated passenger facilities, this service will be transformative for the island.
The Tristan lobster catch will be sold under a newly created premium brand, Seven Seas Lobster.
