Sustainability

Sustainability
DSC 7434

For Fortuna, sustainability is more than a standalone initiative or a matter of simple compliance. It is a commitment to long-term responsibility in a region where business, community, and environment are closely intertwined.

Operating in the Falkland Islands and across the South Atlantic brings with it a clear obligation: to support the careful management of marine resources, invest in scientific understanding, strengthen environmental resilience and contribute to the protection and restoration of the natural systems on which future prosperity depends.

This commitment underpins our business. It begins with support for a fisheries framework in the Falkland Islands that is internationally respected for its science-led management and high standards of stewardship. It extends into direct investment in research, including PhD sponsorships that deepen knowledge of marine ecosystems and fisheries. It also includes support for climate and water resilience research that will help the Islands respond to future environmental pressures, as well as practical habitat restoration projects that deliver visible, long-term ecological benefit on the ground.

Community

For Fortuna, community is fundamental to our business. In the Falkland Islands, the two are closely connected.
As a long-term operator with deep roots in the Islands, Fortuna believes its role extends beyond commercial activity to include meaningful support for the people, places and institutions that help define Falklands life.
