Our story begins in 1987, when Fortuna Ltd was established and entered into its first major agreement with Pescavigo SA. This early collaboration set the foundation for modernising the Falklands’ fishing sector and building longstanding relationships that continue to define us today.
Through the 1990s, Fortuna laid the groundwork for what would become a diverse and resilient group of companies. This decade saw the incorporation of Capricorn, Beagle Fishing, Petrel Fishing, and Venturer Fishing—each marking an expansion of our capabilities and growing ownership within the industry. Strategic investment in vessels, including the acquisition and later renaming of the John Cheek to Kestrel, strengthened our operational fleet and supported the region’s developing fishing economy.
Entering the 2000s, Fortuna continued to build on its partnerships, increasing shareholdings across several group companies and expanding international operations. By 2007, we had secured majority stakes in both Capricorn and Beagle Fishing, reinforcing stability and enabling further investment in the sector.
From 2008 onwards, Fortuna’s footprint grew globally. The formation of Georgia Seafoods Ltd, followed by the incorporation of Loligo Products SA in Spain, Fortuna Seafoods BV in the Netherlands, and Noray Servicios SAC in Peru, marked the beginning of a coordinated international presence. These ventures broadened our expertise in harvesting, processing, and international distribution, while maintaining strong roots in the Falkland Islands.
The mid2010s brought further expansion.
New longliners such as Tronio and Rambla were added to the fleet; Loligo Seafood SL was incorporated; and Rijler SA in Uruguay joined the group’s growing network. These developments strengthened supply chains, diversified production, and enhanced our ability to deliver highquality seafood products to global markets.

In recent years, Fortuna has continued evolving to meet the demands of a modern, responsible seafood industry. The establishment of Atlantic Catch Ltd in 2021, followed by the creation of 101 Marine Consultancy Ltd in 2022, demonstrates our commitment not only to fishing and processing but also to safety, compliance, and marine consultancy services. Additional developments and ventures—including fleet investment with newbuild trawlers Falcon joining the fishery in 2021 and Prion in 2025—underscore our continued investment in sustainable, international growth.
The 2020s saw Fortuna become a truly international entity, with the acquisition of UK companies Holyhead Towing Company Ltd in 2024 and the Ocean Fish Group in 2025. 2025 also saw Fortuna secure exclusive long-term rights to fish for lobster in Tristan da Cunha, whilst providing passenger, cargo and power generation services for the Island. This concession is due to start in 2027.
Today, the Fortuna Group represents a robust and diverse portfolio of companies, each contributing to a shared vision: delivering highquality seafood products, responsibly harvested, ethically managed, and supported by decades of experience across the marine, processing, and aquaculture sectors.
Our journey is one of steady investment, trusted partnerships, and a longstanding commitment to the future of the Falklands’ fishing industry—and we’re just getting started.
